چکیده

From the integration of nonsymmetrical hyperboles, a one-parameter generalization of the logarithmic function is obtained. Inverting this function, one obtains the generalized exponential function. Motivated by the mathematical curiosity, we show that these generalized functions are suitable to generalize some probability density functions pdfs . A very reliable rank distribution can be conveniently described by the generalized exponential function. Finally, we turn the attention to the generalization of oneand two-tail stretched exponential functions. We obtain, as particular cases, the generalized error function, the Zipf-Mandelbrot pdf, the generalized Gaussian and Laplace pdf. Their cumulative functions and moments were also obtained analytically.

On Bivariate Generalized Exponential-Power Series Class of Distributions

In this paper, we introduce a new class of bivariate distributions by compounding the bivariate generalized exponential and power-series distributions. This new class contains the bivariate generalized exponential-Poisson, bivariate generalized exponential-logarithmic, bivariate generalized exponential-binomial and bivariate generalized exponential-negative binomial distributions as specia...

Brownian Motion and the Generalized Catalan Numbers

We show that the generating functions of the generalized Catalan numbers can be identified with the moment generating functions of probability density functions related to the Brownian motion stochastic process. Specifically, the probability density functions are exponential mixtures of inverse Gaussian (EMIG) probability density functions, which arise as the first passage time distributions to...

Two Views of Belief: Belief as Generalized Probability and Belief as Evidence

Halpern, J.Y. and R. Fagin, Two views of belief: belief as generalized probability and belief as evidence, Artificial Intelligence 54 (3) (1992) 275-317. Belief functions are mathematical objects defined to satisfy three axioms that look somewhat similar to the Kolmogorov axioms defining probability functions. We argue that there are (at least) two useful and quite different ways of understandi...

An Extended Gamma Function Involving a Generalized Hypergeometric Function

The objective of this paper is to define and study new generalized extended gamma functions. A generalized extended gamma probability density function involving generalized hypergeometric function is also defined. Closed form representations of the generalized gamma functions and the moment generating function are derived in the form of H-function using inverse Mellon transform techniques. Inco...

A Generalized Beta Function and Associated Probability Density

We introduce and establish some properties of a generalized form of the beta function. Corresponding generalized incomplete beta functions are also defined. Moreover, we define a new probability density function (pdf) involving this new generalized beta function. Some basic functions associated with the pdf, such as moment generating function, mean residue function, and hazard rate function are...
